First Class Mail (FCM) is more expensive. The benefits from that additional cost include faster delivery time, forwarding to new addresses, and any undeliverable addresses will be returned to the sender. Presorted Standard (PSS) is less expensive. The delivery time is a little longer, but with today's technology including NCOA and bar-coding, a great alternative to FCM.

Address standardization means that all addresses in a file are in the same format.
